The charity we are supporting with any donations above the cleanup costs is Tread Lightly. We'll have tons of Tread Lightly materials, stickers and flyers!

Even though Tread Lightly is this years benefiting Charity there will be some great local charity's at this years cleanup including:
TRAL is a local group that specifically cares for and works with the Mesa Ranger District. (Which includes the Four Peaks Area.)

Karmaracer: Which you may remember from last years cleanup will be a part of this years event. Luis Aclivar, this charities founder and leader, works tirelessly to teach kids and those less fortunate to find a new purpose in cycling. From teaching kids how to work on their bikes to making sure any kid who wants to race is fully outfitted. Karmaracer will be on site to give information and spread the word.

Disabled Explorers, which you may also remember from last year or many other places will be handling all the medical services at the cleanup. Lance, DE's front man, is a highly capable RN and will be in full effect with his new Sportsmobile truck!

Visit to Four Peaks area.

Well yesterday, November 19th, I visited Four Peaks to see how it looked. For the first time I can actually say, its not as bad! We're making headway.
After the first two years some volunteers were a bit disheartened to see the area looking almost as bad as it did just one year earlier.
This year I can actually tell that MOST of the areas we've cleaned are much better off than they were last year.

That being said, by expanding the cleanup area we will have plenty of work ahead of us for 2010. One way or another we'll eventually clean the whole forest. ;)

Here are some of the worst areas this year.

Some groups to thank for working hard to keep these areas open are on this sign. When I was more actively riding dirt bikes I belonged to the Rock Stars. All great groups of folks who work hard.

2010 Cleanup

We are in the planning stages for the third Four Peaks Pickup. This coming year the event will be held on February 6th 2010.

I want to say thank you to the more than 500 volunteers that showed up last year. With almost no monetary backing the cleanup was able to take 21 TONS of trash out of the desert near Phoenix, AZ.
Thank you for all of your hard work!

I will continue to update this site as the event develops.

Tim Huber

We'll have these stickers available for sale to help offset the costs of the cleanup:

A friend and volunteer named Chris Marzonie of www.bajataco.com sent me this picture from last year. Don't worry, I'll have the bullhorn again this year!:

Four Peaks Pickup Pictures

Say that five times fast.

I really didn't get to take many pictures this year. The unloading area was so busy with all of the trucks coming along that I spent most of the day in the bed of a truck.
Please send me pictures that YOU took.

Here is what I did capture though.

Post Pickup

Where do I begin. It was a truly epic day. With what we thought was going to be a rainy day I hoped for a turn out similar to last year at BEST.
Instead we had twice the volunteers and three times the trash cleaned up. A preliminary count shows 500 People came and over 20 Tons of trash were picked up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You the volunteer are all that really matters. I love you!

You made this a truly great day. You showed folks that there are a LARGE majority of responsible outdoor enthusiasts that care.

This years cleanup is on FEBRUARY 7th, 2009. From 9am to 3pm!!

IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN IS POSSIBLE THIS SATURDAY. THE CLEANUP IS ON RAIN OR SHINE. :)
PLEASE COME PREPARED. Thanks!

Four Peaks Pickup on TV! Check out this link:

Adler Publishing has ALSO supplied the cleanup effort with some signed copies of their offhighway adventure books!! Thank you!!
Funtreks in conjunction with Disabled Explorers has donated a SIGNED copy of their Arizona offroad adventure book. We'll be giving this away along with more goodies at about 3pm.

Desert Dog automotive is donating 6 free oil changes to some luck volunteers as well as some t-shirts and sweatshirts! If that wasn't enough, they are also going to have some employees up there helping clean up! Thanks Guys!

Thanks to Arizona Clean and Beautiful!! I just picked up a huge load of water and over a thousand trash bags for the cleanup!!
ALSO, KEEP THIS LINK TO REPORT LITTERING YOU SEE:

http://www.arizonacleanandbeautiful.org/LitterForm/LitterForm_page.html

ACB will send out an official letter to the perpetrator. It may be "just" a letter, but it will let them know they are being watched. I think that alone will discourage most from doing it again.

SDHQ Off-road! As soon as the first email was sent out this year announcing the cleanup the owner of SDHQ, Ryan, called me immediately to say that he wanted to help out and contribute even MORE than they did last year. In this economy I expected many folks to curtail their charity efforts. Not SDHQ. They have stepped up and are working with me to secure dumpsters, lunch and giveaways!

Sierra Expeditions. Talk about good people. This family run business was excited to help out in any way they could. By using their talents and an immense amount of time they have secured both a radio interview AND a television interview to help promote the cleanup. This is already more press than we had last year. In addition they are contributing to the give away again this year. Thank you so much Wil, Wendy, and Sierra Expeditions.

Thank you Jessica Lane. A cost that's easy to overlook is the cost of creating a professional looking flyer and printing them in color. Both in 08 and 09 she has stepped up to help create and print these flyers for the cleanup. Thank you so much. Frankly, you rock!

WOW, Thank you Danica Norris. She is a member of the Arizona Wilderness Coalition. We recently met and she was thrilled to do what she can to help the effort! She just let me know that they will be able to provide 2,000 bags and over a hundred bottles of Gatorade for all of the thirsty volunteers! Thank you SO much Danica and AZWild.org.

BIG Thanks to the Forest Service, specifically the Mesa Ranger District. They helped out last year and are doing so again by bringing a dumpster, getting some media attention and helping with the dumping costs associated with all of the trash we are cleaning up!!!

This year I really want to thank Todd at Blue Sky Sanitation Roll-off Services. They are very generously offering up the dumpsters for the clean up at no charge. Lets make sure we fill them to the brim everyone! Pass Blue Sky's info around. Lets give our business to those companies that support things like this!

Still amongst all that, the mountain is still beautiful too.
