Visit to Four Peaks area.

Well yesterday, November 19th, I visited Four Peaks to see how it looked. For the first time I can actually say, its not as bad! We're making headway.
After the first two years some volunteers were a bit disheartened to see the area looking almost as bad as it did just one year earlier.
This year I can actually tell that MOST of the areas we've cleaned are much better off than they were last year.

That being said, by expanding the cleanup area we will have plenty of work ahead of us for 2010. One way or another we'll eventually clean the whole forest. ;)

Here are some of the worst areas this year.

Some groups to thank for working hard to keep these areas open are on this sign. When I was more actively riding dirt bikes I belonged to the Rock Stars. All great groups of folks who work hard.

2010 Cleanup

We are in the planning stages for the third Four Peaks Pickup. This coming year the event will be held on February 6th 2010.

I want to say thank you to the more than 500 volunteers that showed up last year. With almost no monetary backing the cleanup was able to take 21 TONS of trash out of the desert near Phoenix, AZ.
Thank you for all of your hard work!

I will continue to update this site as the event develops.

We'll have these stickers available for sale to help offset the costs of the cleanup:

A friend and volunteer named Chris Marzonie of www.bajataco.com sent me this picture from last year. Don't worry, I'll have the bullhorn again this year!:

Four Peaks Pickup Pictures

Say that five times fast.

I really didn't get to take many pictures this year. The unloading area was so busy with all of the trucks coming along that I spent most of the day in the bed of a truck.
Please send me pictures that YOU took.

Here is what I did capture though.

Post Pickup

Where do I begin. It was a truly epic day. With what we thought was going to be a rainy day I hoped for a turn out similar to last year at BEST.
Instead we had twice the volunteers and three times the trash cleaned up. A preliminary count shows 500 People came and over 20 Tons of trash were picked up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You the volunteer are all that really matters. I love you!

You made this a truly great day. You showed folks that there are a LARGE majority of responsible outdoor enthusiasts that care.
